The Rossville Police Department provides 24 hour law enforcement services to the community.  Our professional staff of officers stand ready to provide assistance to you. We are currently located at 380 Morrison Road in the Emergency Services Facility. Our office phone number is (901) 853.4689.  For non-emergency police officer dispatch dial (901) 465.3456 and speak with a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher who will dispatch a Rossville Police Officer. In the event of an emergency dial 911.

Chief W. Dave Hamric was appointed as Chief of Police in June of 2010, after serving a 30-year career with the Collierville Police Department. Chief Hamric retired from the Collierville Police Department at the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations. Chief Hamric is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #164 and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, Session #63.

Chief Hamric is a member of the Memphis Metropolitan Area Chiefs of Police Association, Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy Associates, and Federal Bureau of Investigations Executive Development Association.

Golf Carts/Low Speed Vehicles

In order to use converted golf carts “low speed vehicles” in the subdivisions of the City, certain requirements must be met. The converted golf carts must meet the requirements of 49 CFR 571.500, be registered and the operator must possess a valid driver license.

Police Career Opportunities

Applications for employment as a police officer may be obtained at Rossville Town Hall. All persons employed as a officer must obtain state certification within 6 months of employment.

To become a police officer you must meet the following pre-employment requirements:

  1. Be at least twenty one(21) years of age.
  2. Be a citizen of the United States.
  3. Be a high school graduate or possess equivalence.
  4. Not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.
  5. Not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States.
  6. Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician.
  7. Have good moral character.
  8. Have Been certified by a Tennessee Licensed Health Care Provider qualified in the psychiatric or psychological fields as being free from any disorder.
