Rossville is the reflection of evolution through time, mixing the best combination of “something old and something new.” Originally a farm community, Rossville became a commerce of freight when the railroad track was layed in 1837. Rossville was originally known as Lafayette Station, while the name changed, the value of working hard to retain a “Town” and “village’ feel, has never diminshed. Rossville continues to grow and change with society while maintaining all that keeps its heritage and the quaintness of town living.

Rossville TN is small bedroom community in South Fayette County, TN. With a population of approximately 1,053 residents (Special Census 2016), our Southern charm and hospitality can be felt as soon as you enter our City limits. We are located close enough to major cities in Tennessee to provide ideal shopping and work opportunities and yet far enough away enjoy a small town lifestyle. Rossville is approximately 5 miles East of I-385 and its completion in the Fall of 2013 is providing even more access to surrounding communities and activities.

Rossville has a Mayor/Aldermen form of government, Planning and Zoning and Zoning Appeal committees, Architectural Review Board, Police Department and a well-run Fire Department staffed with approximately 9 volunteer fire men and women and First Responders. Due to the excellence exhibited by the Rossville Fire Department, the city has long enjoyed an ISO rating of 7.

Rossville provides water through a town owned water treatment facility. A comprehensive land-use plan has been adopted by the town and it provides potential sites for a wide range of land uses.

Many of the children in Rossville attend Rossville Christian Academy or other private schools located within a few miles of the city limits.
