Honor a veteran with a special connection to Rossville through the Town of Rossville Veterans Banner Program.

Up to 44 veterans will be honored on 22 double-sided Veterans Banners displayed along TN-194 between TN-57 and the railroad tracks throughout the month of November.

Participation is available at no cost.

About the Program

The Rossville Veterans Banner Program is a community tribute honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Each November, up to 44 veterans are honored on 22 double-sided Veterans Banners displayed along TN-194 between TN-57 and the railroad tracks in observance of Veterans Day. Program Guidelines

Eligibility Requirements

A veteran is eligible to be honored if:

  • The veteran has a special connection to Rossville as defined by the program.
  • The veteran served honorably in the United States Armed Forces.
  • The veteran meets the eligibility requirements established by the Town of Rossville Veterans Banner Program.

 

Required Documentation

Please provide:

  • A completed online application.
  • A high-quality photograph of the veteran.
  • Verification of military service, if requested.
  • Any additional documentation requested to verify information appearing on the banner.

Banner Design

Each Veterans Banner is professionally designed and includes:

  • Veteran’s photograph
  • Name
  • Branch of military service
  • Years of service
  • Rank (optional)
  • One qualifying military distinction, when applicable.

Banner layout and design are standardized to provide a consistent appearance throughout the program.

Military Banner Program Application:

To ensure uniformity, print quality, and respectful presentation, all submitted photographs must meet the following standards:

Photo Format and Resolution

  • File format: JPEG (.jpg) or PNG (.png)
  • Minimum resolution: 300 DPI
  • Minimum image size: 2400 × 3000 pixels (portrait orientation preferred)
  • Color: Full color preferred; high-quality black-and-white images accepted
  • Image quality: Clear, well-lit, in focus, and free of filters, watermarks, text overlays, or digital alterations

 

Low-resolution, blurry, or pixelated images may be rejected.

Photo Composition

  • Head-and-shoulders portrait preferred
  • Neutral or simple background
  • Subject centered and facing the camera

 

Uniform Requirements

  • The honoree must be photographed wearing an official United States military uniform appropriate to their branch of service.
  • Uniforms must be worn properly and in accordance with military standards in effect at the time the photograph was taken.
  • Civilian attire, novelty uniforms, altered uniforms, or partial uniforms (e.g., hat only) are not permitted.
  • Historical service photographs are acceptable if they meet image quality requirements.

 

If an acceptable uniformed photograph is unavailable due to age, era of service, or other limitations, the Town reserves the right to review and approve alternate photographs on a case-by-case basis.

Submission of a photograph constitutes permission for the Town of Rossville to reproduce and display the image for the duration of the Military Street Banner Program.

The Town of Rossville reserves the right to screen applicants and require proof of DD214 or military identification documentation.
